Manuela Busetti, Andrea Garuti and Matteo Redaelli are the founders of BGR studio, here’s how they work in perfect harmony.
Formal elegance and smart design are two of the recurring characteristics in the furnishings designed by BGR studio founded by Manuela Busetti, Andrea Garuti, Matteo Redaelli. Their projects are always appropriate, suitable for the time, useful and sensible and made more captivating by an equally concrete formal approach that is expressed in pure and measured beauty.
It is no coincidence that among the priorities that they themselves manifest are the usability and legibility of the object, a choice that brings them close to real life, to the real dynamics that cross public and private spaces. These are furnishings that solve concrete needs, not only of use but also of presence, because beauty is also a function to be fulfilled in every space.
What is the specific talent of each of you three?
As a general approach in our studio, each of us deals with every aspect of the development process. From research, to design, to customer relations, so that different points of view are always a resource in each phase of development.
Obviously, each of us has personal predispositions that stand out and enrich the process. To the essential creative skills, Manuela combines a notable sensitivity for the selection and combination of materials, colors and finishes, Andrea has a strong ability to resolve the more technical aspects to ensure that each idea takes shape and “works”, Matteo a notable sense of proportion and photographic eye that allow us to define balanced forms and communicate them in the best possible way. This synergy allows us to approach each project with a multiple approach, balancing creativity, functionality and attention to detail. The result of a process of synthesis between our personal visions and sensibilities.
When you approach a new project, are there any priorities that you always set yourself?
The development of each of our projects is aimed at identifying simple solutions, both technical and formal, favoring the usability and readability of the object. In this process we reinterpret both traditional and innovative materials to allow these objects to become, placed in their context, discreet and useful life companions.
Thinking about home interiors, what characteristics must furnishings have today?
Today, furnishings must combine canonical form-function binomial with versatility and sustainability. They must be suitable for different contexts, specific or hybrid spaces. Propose scalable or modular solutions to be able to adapt to the different available surfaces or offer a sufficient range of materials and finishes that allow the product to be declined and made compatible with even very different home styles, favoring increasingly eco-friendly and long-lasting materials.
Creating timeless objects, capable of adapting to the needs of those who live them and of maintaining their function and aesthetic harmony intact is certainly an aspect that we take into great consideration, also because there is nothing more sustainable than a product that can accompany you throughout your life or even be passed down to the next generation.
What is your idea of outdoor furniture?
In recent years, the outdoors has become a true extension of the home, evolving from an accessory space to a privileged place of relaxation and well-being.
Our idea is that outdoor furniture allows a greater connection with nature. For example, through the definition of shapes and choice of materials that invite you to relax, to indulge in a moment of relaxation and guarantee durability. Today it is important to consider even the smallest spaces, such as urban balconies, for which the furniture must be versatile and suitable for furnishing them.
Is there a new project you are working on that you would like to give a preview of?
