Comfort and beauty are the main themes of the new outdoor collections of the most prestigious brands. Terraces, gardens, and courtyards are the protagonists of a design that 2024 takes a step forward and stands out both for the increasingly refined color choices and for the surfaces characterized by textures and weaves which are transformed into interesting decorative ideas. The new collections blend with the surrounding nature thanks to discreet and earthy colors, but at the same time acquire an increasingly stronger formal character, as to assert themselves more and more. To characterize the outdoor space, a place of conviviality but also the expression of a strong and distinctive style.

The iconic elegance of Cassina

Iconic and timeless, Cassina furnishings elevate the style of the space in which they are placed. This also applies to the outdoors which becomes special, elegant, and welcoming. It happens with the outdoor version of the Esosoft sofa by Antonio Citterio: the name refers to the exoskeleton that supports a sort of large hand-woven fiber basket on which the seat and back cushions rest. Iconic and sustainable, the sofa can be completely disassembled, and its cushions are made of circular materials. Piero Lissoni signs Mex-Hi, a modular, generous, and soft sofa to be freely configured thanks to a wide variety of elements. The bases are in tubular steel, the cushions in recycled polyurethane lined with water-repellent fabric. Among the novelties intended for the outdoor dining area there are also the Trampoline chairs by Patricia Urquiola, characterized by rounded shapes and backrests in woven polypropylene and nylon rope.

Dedon’s weaves and natural shapes

The Dedon collections stand out for their ability to make the atmosphere enchanting and special, through refined and elegant but also innovative formal choices. An example of this is the Scoora collection of outdoor lamps by Hoffmann & Kahleyss Design: the light is enclosed between two panels that recall the shape of a shell or two leaves and its scenic presence is sculptural both during the day and in the evening. Regarding decorative weaves, we cannot fail to mention the Cirql Nu seating collection by Werner Aisslinger which in a harmony of patterns, weaves and colors creates an enchanting three-dimensional effect. Among the new seats, Kida by Stephen Burks also stands out: like a cradle with organic shapes, light, inviting and lively.

The neutral shades of Tribu

As if to merge with the surrounding scenery, Tribu chooses the neutral palette of sand tones for its new collections. Christophe Delcourt designs the Suro collection, a perfect harmony of wood, aluminum, and woven rope, devoted to the natural colors of these materials. The result is original but classic at the same time, perfect for a sophisticated but informal outdoor space. Evocative and sculptural are the Otto dining table collections by Marc Merckx whose base is inspired by the grooved “ribbon” decorative motif common in Italian bars of the 1940s, on which a round or rectangular top in ceramic or travertine rests. The theme of weaving returns in the poetic collection of Mai poufs by Ilia Eckardt entirely covered in knitted fabric whose texture resembles a weaving of leaves.

Experimental shapes and extreme comfort for Gervasoni

Among the 2024 novelties introduced by Gervasoni, the expansion of the Kasane collection of dining tables and poufs by Nendo stands out: the name translates in Japanese as “overlap” and recalls the design idea of superimposing a series of elements that become the base of the tables and poufs. And the new sunbed from the Flair collection by Oscar and Gabriele Buratti is a tribute to the desire for comfort, characterized by the backrest with double folding zipper covered in lightly padded and quilted fabric which allows you to be welcomed in total relaxation.
